Magnetite is a mineral that is a type of iron oxide. It has naturally magnetic properties and is attracted by a magnet and is the most magnetic of all minerals on Earth. Mill scale caused by magnetite is very common during fabrication of clean steam and steam generator systems. This can be a dense layer on the surface of the steel and can be very susceptible to corrosion and cracking.

It is important to chemically clean your new clean steam and steam generator systems before use and routinely throughout its life cycle to prevent costly damage to equipment.
